I have recently been re thinking my ideas for my AS coursework resubmission, and I have thought of some new ideas which are of a different genre. I have started planning an idea which is based upon a 50's sci-fi B movie. The reason I want to try this genre out and style is because I love classic sci - fi and horror films from the golden and silver ages of cinema. I've watched a large amount of these films and really enjoy how large amounts of these films were shot with a ridiculously low budget. I also love the cheap effects, monsters and laughable acting.
Possible movie star in the works?
I've been watching a large amount of these films lately and have seen the films use incredibly cheap solutions around problems, such as monster effects. These could have been expensive as special creature effects people would have to craft suits (Gojira) and do stop motion (Beast from 20,000 Fathoms). However I have found ways in which I can combat this by using live animals. At the moment I have 3 scorpions, 2 babies and 1 very large one which we could use in miniature sets with ease. Creating these tiny sets might be hard but we could always get pieces of model train sets, warhammer and other toys to get the desired look. However at the moment this is just speculation we may not include them in the final idea but the idea is there.
One idea I have been really really wanting to do would be the opening titles and credits as in most B movies these are done in really spectacular ways such as in The Thing From Another World and The Blob. These are really easy to replicate using contemporary technology such as editing software.
